The work of Aliki van der Kruijs originates from context and material investigations and moves in the intersection of art and design. During her Master’s degree Applied Art at the Dirty Art Department of the Sandberg Instituut, Amsterdam she juxtaposed her background in graphic design, photography and fashion design to do research into the way textile can be a means of communication and a meaningful framework to highlight the relationship between man and nature.
She operates a studio in The Hague, the Netherlands and works on self initiated research-projects, collaborations and commission based. Recently she did a three months residency in Arita, Japan to work with porcelain and currently teaches Research and Design at the TXT department of the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam.
